It is almost common knowledge that shoes are a lady's best friend. Women are notorious for owning more pairs of shoes than they can count or remember. Besides diamonds, it often seems as if shoes are the way to a woman's heart. There are many types of shoes that women love to have around, and the following are just a couple favorites.

Ballet

Ballet shoes are a long loved type of flat shoe. They were of course originally just used for ballet, but they have recently been becoming quite popular in the fashion world. The types of "ballet shoes" that are seen in fashion are a bit different than traditional ballet shoes though. They tend to have more width to the sole and are made out of different materials than the original ones. Ballet shoes are similar to another type of shoe, call "flats," and are very comfortable and versatile. Since they are simple enough shoes to find, they often come in a variety of styles and beautiful colors.

Flats

As mentioned above, flats tend to also be very comfortable and versatile. One's typical flat is most of the time a close-toed shoe that round about the foot instead of coming up close to the ankle in the front (like a sneaker might.) Flats are a great choice of shoes for women looking for something stylish when they have foot problems. Flat shoes don't have much of a heel, if any, so they should not cause much pain to the foot. Many also have enough room to fit an insert into the shoe. These shoes also come in a very wide variety of styles and colors. There are plenty of options for ladies and girls of all ages that are looking for a simple and elegant shoe.

Mary Janes

While the previous two shoes are fairly flat and level, Mary Janes start to rise up a little bit. Mary Janes often have a bit of an incline or sort of heel in the back, most times no more than about two inches. Mary Janes are a wonderful type of shoe for their comfort. They can be found in flat versions and tend to be a pick for many people that are on their feet all day long. They are comfortable and don't hurt one's feet like many other typical shoes do. Another good thing about Mary Janes is that they are usually not too expensive, unlike specialized comfortable shoes. They can come in many different cute styles, varying from more laid-back designs to very professional looking shoes.

Mules

Mule shoes are another top pick for women who are on their feet for a good part of the day. Mule shoes do often have a bit of a heel, but not enough to be painful. Mule shoes are most often worn in more "professional" type environments, although there are some that are made with more basic designs for when one is out and about. Mule shoes are especially great because they don't have a back. They are easy to shoes to slip on when one is running late. They are usually a fairly comfortable and affordable shoe as well.

These few shoes highlight some of the more comfortable favorites of women's shoes. There are many others as well that are not as comfortable, such as high-heels and pumps, but these are the ones that most women just love sticking their foot into.
